Because they use your PC?

Who has never asked this question? Our dear computer or laptop as a consumer of electricity and as it affects our final expenditure? I have asked myself the past and looking on the net ... I found a very interesting site. The program can calculate the consumption by including the technical data of your computer and monitor, so as to give very accurate results also calculates the annual cost with tariffs updated.

The site in question was made by the European Union 'in collaboration with ENERGY STAR and is very easy and intuitive even for the less experienced. Proceed with regard to the description of the site.

Above and tables are: PC, screen and use. In the first column select the type of computer in our possession, here's how to choose:

  • Small server: server common low quality office or home (or P4 Celeron / 2.8 GHz / 256 MB RAM).
  • Economic PC: PC Economic fixed (for example Celeron (2 GHz), Sempron (3000 +) or similar / 512 MB RAM / 250 GB). Estimated price = price of the system (incl. 17 "CRT) less € 100, -.
  • Multimedia PC: desktop multimedia, for example, Athlon X2, Core 2 Duo or similar / 2.4 GHz / 1024 MB RAM / 320 GB and more powerful graphics.
  • Workstation: Desktop PC for professional CAD / computer graphic / scientific research. For example, two processing units (Opteron, Xeon, Core 2 Quad or similar / 3 GHz / 8 GB RAM / 500 GB / 64 bit OS.
  • Mobile PCs: ottimizzatoper battery life and portability (extremely flat and light). Typically Core Duo / Turion X2, 15.4 "XGA TFT-LCD. Best Specific energy consumption, but not economically.
  • Laptop Economic: Mobile Sempron or Celeron M, screen 15 "XGA TFT-LCD (15" = roughly similar to a CRT 16 ").
  • Great laptop: As above but with wide-screen LCD 16-17 "with better graphics card. Excellente substitute for a PC drive. High energy consumption for a laptop, but still 50% cheaper than a comparable fixed PC as prestatzioni.
  • Without this we choose the size of our monitor and the type of usage of our pc calling for full and idle hours (full load and no load)
